Dont sleep my Brothers and Sisters from the African Diaspora, - TopicsExpress

Dont sleep my Brothers and Sisters from the African Diaspora, while latinos share in African lineage, too many deny it, and rather identify as spanish or use their place of birth as their race....this is not a post discussing the right or wrong of their self assessment, rather a wake up call to Black people and their place in the immigration debate. While i applaud the political, social, and economic awareness to the issue that latinos have brought to the table for discourse, i do wonder where are the other voices of color. African Americans, need to collaborate with Carribbean, South American, and African, peoples to mobilize to make certain that reform will include concerns from this population as well. Never is a time for us to separate ourselves through geographical origin, we need to take a lesson from old Europes playbook, who were tribal and warred against each other, but came to realize they were stronger united, to achieve their (most times not so nice ) aspirations of world exploration and dominance and their place in it. We got work to do...the struggle continues.
