Download Find A Way on iTunes now: smarturl.it/FindAWay It started with an unexpected phonecall from Soweto Gospel Choir... They were on tour in North America and were so excited to read about me being named the worlds grittiest rapper in none-other than Billboard Magazine. Yeah, yeah I was out there in Billboard Magazine once upon a time and that got me noticed by one of this countrys most successful musical exports, the Soweto Gospel Choir. Not many groups tour the world as much they do... With sold out shows around the world, two Grammy awards, an Emmy award and an Oscar nomination to go with the many other international accolades under their belt, these guys have achieved everything Ive ever dreamed of and for some reason they thought it would be nice to call me and tell me that Im doing a great job. The irony, I know but I was still touched. It was a short phone call that ended with them asking if we could meet when they get back from the North American leg of their world tour... Insane right? How could it be that these worldwide superstars would make time to hang with a boy from Katlehong whose only claim to fame was rapping well enough to have his songs play on the radio? It didnt make sense but one thing that did was asking them to add their voices to a song I wrote to inspire the youth of South Africa. I plucked up the courage to call them up and ask if they would like to do a song with me and before they even heard it, they agreed. They genuinely wanted to work with me and I was pinching myself in disbelief. True to their word they called me as soon as they got back and asked that I send them the song with the lyrics so they could prepare for the recording. We set-up a rehersal and that was it, strangley enough. They didnt call again to tell me how the song might need some work nor did they say it was terrible, so I got nervous. Hard as it might be to believe I still get nervous whenever I have to hear what people think of my work. I put my heart and soul into everything I do so I take any and all criticism very personally. Going into our first meeting the only thing on my mind was, I hope they like the song. We met at one of the choir leaders house in Soweto... It was a cold, rainy and miserable day but when they welcomed me in I could feel the warmth in their smiles. It mustve been the coffee, boy did we have a lot of that. We got straight into it right away and 30 minutes later we had the different arrangements for the voice groups and were ready to record the next week. We had some more coffee and biscuits as they told me the stories of their travels and they finally concluded... Now this is an amazing song! A week later we met at Jazzworx in Randburg to add the voices of the Soweto Gospel Choir to this amazing song which also features Kruna... You might remeber Krunas single Nunu whcih topped the charts back in 2008 featuring me? Well if you dont then let this be your introduction. The amazing song that Ive been babbling on about is called Find A Way. Its narrative centres around the theme of a lost generation or youths of lost innocence who are consumed by a reality in which desparation has seen them abandon their dreams and in the end all they seek is forgiveness and deliverence from the evils of this world. In the hope of divine intervention they open up about their fears and submit that theyre just trying to find a way to forgive themselves and see the goodness within... That alone should entice you to hear the story in the song but theres more, LOL. The climax breaks away from the narrative for me to deliver a motivational speech that I hope will inspire young people from all walks of life. In essense my final verse encapsulates the message of the song which is that as South Africans we need to forgive ourselves and look beyond our dark past into the bright future where together we can Find A Way to meet the promise of this beautiful nation, for goodness sake! Deep huh? I know but sometimes youve just got to be real about such things because these are the shared ideals on which great nations are built and with this song I too submit that Im just trying to Find A Way to turn this idea into a drive to move South Africa forward... So get it on iTunes right now (smarturl.it/FindAWay) & be inspired by the lyrics below. DaKAR! Lyrics: FIND A WAY (feat.) Kruna & Soweto Gospel Choir Intro: Yeah, Aye, Hey, Uh, Put your ones in the air Put your ones in the air Are you there? Im just tryna find a way... Verse 1: Bafwethu ngihamba phansi and Im trying to stay alive / I show no love, Ive got hatred in my eyes / Ku-blind nok-surviva one day is a surprise / I got nothing in my pockets but I keep paying the price / Iympitshi zami zi-grand zize ziqgoka nama-suit / Maztshayisa ngiyangena, angsablomi nazo futhi / Ngiyazi zingajabula ukungbona ngingasahluphi but I click-click bang ngoba sonke kumele sisuthe / And this is how I live, It sounds like an excuse / But this is how it is, I never got to choose / I know Im gonna lose, mangbambana nenkuzi / And If I were to walk away Id do it in your shoes / So Im turning to you, the people that Ive hurt / I dont know what to do, Im lost as youve heard / I cant find a job and needless to say / This boy is really lost, Im just trying to find my way... Take me. Chorus Ndimile la, ndimile / Amaqhinga aphalile / Nami ngifuna ikusasa eligqamile / Ive got, Ive got / Gotta find a way... Verse 2 Wait, before you crucify me, let me speak out / I got a lot of scars, let me bleed out / To make a little change, I let men take me out / And if they make it rain, I always bring the cloud / And its usually dark, the light is really weak / Of course I got a heart, I just never hear it beat / I never had a family, I grew up in the streets / All your husbands and daddies, Ive had them in my sheets / And this is how I live, it sounds like an excuse / But this is how it is, I never got to choose / Ulala unaphupho bese uvuka uwumuntu / Mina ngilala ngingaphupho bese ngivuka nomuntu / So Im turning to you, the people that Ive hurt / I dont know what to do, Im lost as youve heard / I cant find a job and needless to say / This girl is really lost, Im just trying to find my way... Take me. [Chorus] Verse 3 So mangqala ngbheka i-life! Ngiyabona seyvaya fast fast / Umchunela i-favour vandag, ksasa akasakwazi / Hay ukuthi mfana asazi fede islima silala sazi / Kumele sigeze izimpilo zethu, ubuso bungabi neshashazi / Kumele senze i-sense, siyeke ukwenza i-cent / I-idea siyenze iselle, eintlek siyenze ize yenzeke / Sibheke loku okuzayo sihlukane nezinto ezisele / Ngoba izinto ezisele, sizishiye sazi ngeke zisebenzeke / So manje siyaqala siyayenza, obhedayo siyamkhuza / Siyaqala siya-mover, Imzansi yoke mfethu siyayinyusa / Accelerate, siganda ifutha, sibheke abazosisusa / Siyasebenzisana sonke angithi vele sifuna ukubusa / Makuthiwa nayi i-dulas, ye 9 to 5 / Gembula shaya 2 dice for a delightful life / Go eye to eye ne-life noma ukgola I 2ine / Noma uphakathi uphusha 25 to life.. Come on! Chorus Simile la, simile / Amaqhinga aphalile / Sonke sifuna ikusasa eligqamile / Weve got, weve got / Gotta find a way...
