Dr. Koh Poh Koon: Did a home visit to help a resident with some issues before joining our Muslim residents in Punggol East for their Iftar this evening. Our Chinese and Indian grassroot volunteers helped serve food to our Muslim friends. I am heartened to see the spirit of multi-culturalism and inter-faith harmony alive and well in Punggol East. It is important for us to continue to meet in such settings regularly to strengthen our bonds of understanding, friendship and mutual trust. Iftar is very much a social event, involving family and community members. It is common for people to host others for dinner, to invite and share food with those less fortunate. We were happy some of our needy families were able to join us for this Iftar. The spiritual reward for charitable giving is especially significant during Ramadan. Selamat Ramadan!
