“Dreams are Just Confirmation not an Information” (Judges 7:9-18) “This where many people miss the will of God in their lives because they don’t know this truth that God uses dreams as a confirmation not an information. We must remember that we are spirit, having a soul living in a body. Our spirits contact the spirit world; our souls contact the intelelectual world, while our bodies contact the physical world. The book of proverbs says; “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” (Proverbs 20:27) in other words when God want to lead us He will contact our spirits. In fact He is a Spirit and He dwells with in our spirit. Our spirit is where God gave first the information and when we don’t believe it, He uses dreams to confirm the information that He has already given on the inside of us. What happens to Gideon from our text today was a classical example of this truth that we are seeing and studying today. God has already spoken to Gideon and given him information of what He is about to do with their enemies but Gideon was not fully convinced and needed a confirmation. That is why God told him to go to the camp of their enemies with his servant Purah to hear what God has shown to them through the dreams of their enemies. “That same night the Lord said to him, Arise, go down against the camp, for I have given it into your hand. But if you are afraid to go down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant. And you shall hear what they say, and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp. Then he went down with Purah his servant to the outposts of the armed men who were in the camp. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the people of the East lay along the valley like locusts in abundance, and their camels were without number, as the sand that is on the seashore in abundance. When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat. And his comrade answered, this is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp. As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped.” Dito natin makikita na kung di tayo gaanong kumbinsido sa binigay ng Lord na information sa ating spiritu ay gagamit siya ng panaginip bilang confirmation sa Kanyang sinabi na sa atin sa ating spiritu. Huwag natin gawing information ang mga dreams dahil confirmation lang mga ito. God speaks to us primarily in our spirit man and this what we call the information, but when we don’t fully convinced God has to use an outside information like dreams etc. Kaya noong narinig ni Gideon ang pinag-uusapan ng mga kalaban na panaginip nila, lumabas ang pananampalataya sa kanya at kanilang natanggap ang tagumpay. We must always learn to acknowledge our inward man for the inward information so we can be lead by the Spirit. We should not rely and believe to any dreams or any ‘thus saith the Lord’ if we don’t have an information inside. The way God dealt His servants in the Old covenant is far different now in the New Covenant. God never resides inside of the man in the Old Covenant because of the sin nature, but today in the New Covenant God through the Holy Spirit is now living inside of us. That is why today God can speak and lead us individually through our spirit. “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:16) Whenever God wants to speak to us He speaks to us in the inner man not in dreams and visions or through a Prophet. We must always put this in our minds that God uses deams, people, and circumstances to confirm to us what He has already been speaking to us.”
