Dt 32:19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. 24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. 25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. So continuing from last time where the picture was left off at the people worshiping false gods & forgetting about the real one - when YHVH sees it He in turn Abhorred: 5006 נָאַץ [na’ats /naw·ats/] v. A primitive root; TWOT 1274; GK 5540; 25 occurrences; AV translates as “despise” eight times, “provoke” five times, “abhor” four times, “blaspheme” four times, “contemn” twice, “flourish” once, and “great occasion to blaspheme” once. 1 to spurn, contemn, despise, abhor. 1a (Qal) to spurn, contemn. 1b (Piel). 1b1 to spurn. 1b2 to cause to contemn. 1c (Hiphil) to spurn. 1d (Hithpolel) to be contemned. Which seems to have more of a picture of casting away than just hate alone as some people can tolerate things they hate & be close to them; the people when God hates them are cast away & spurned. Because blaspheme is in there it could be worse than just being cast away because now God is talking bad about you behind your back. - Because of the provoking of His sons & daughters - ummm this is pointing to how one of Gods pet peeves is when someone leads His children astray - the dont take the name of YHVH in vain bit during the 10 commandments we learned was about that by saying dont be a false prophet by saying God gave me or you permission to sin. So anyone who provokes His children to sin God abhorres. That is why we have the passage about he who was doing wrong things & knew gets more stripes than the guy who was doing wrong things & didnt know they were wrong (Lk 12:47-48) because the leaders of the parade get more punishment & that is why the other line i brought up recently is worded the way it is - Jas 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. - the master gets the greatest condemnation from God when he is wrong because not only did he lead himself down the wrong road but he took other people with him. Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. - God really hates it when someone knows they are leading people down the wrong road & do it anyway, finding pleasure in doing it. Hence me always chiming in about how Please dont take my or anyone elses word for what the bible means because we are charismatic; but instead obey Acts 17:10-11 & search the scriptures for yourself & then pray to God & ask Him what it means according to Prov 3:5-6. - because i am the first (& only seems like) person to admit i could be wrong, so you had better verify everything i am preaching for yourself before you believe it so as to avoid me leading you into a ditch like so many blind pastors are doing to their flocks. In any case for me preaching the bible is an eternal life & death issue - not only yours but mine as well as if i fail to do a good job i get whatever punishment you get because i didnt do my job according to one of my missions over there in Ezek 3:17-21 (how many of you would believe God gave me that passage as a mission i dunno & dun care to tell the truth - it is my truth & i have to live by it). In any case because God sent me to be a bible preacher i gotta do my job well or not at all - Jer 23:28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. - if i am not speaking the word of God faithfully like He gave me the instructions to do it i am wasting my time by opening my mouth & that is why i give people this scripture from time to time when they come against me - Num 16:28b Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. - Well from my perspective God put me on the mission of preaching the bible & i am confident that He did because if i obey then all my needs are taken care of & i am showered with more blessings than i can carry - when i disobey like Jonah & refuse to preach i get treated like Jonah & wake up bleeding in a ditch somewhere. 2 Cor 12:11a I am become a fool in glorying; - i shouldnt be wasting so much breath talking about myself, but rather doing my job of pointing you to Jesus; however like with most topics i will beat the horse past the point of death & i wanted to give you my personal assurance (that doesnt mean much i know) that i am doing the best job i can when i preach the bible because i dont want to make a mistake as much as you dont want to believe a lie (well i assume the type of people who read my study are not the type to justify themselves when they are wrong instead of admit it as that is one of the key messages the bible is preaching to be humble & admit our mistakes so that God can heal them {Jas 5:16} - desiring to believe a lie will surely get you cast out of Gods presence as we went over nothing that maketh a lie gets in to the new Jerusalem - Rev 21:27). YHVH said He will hide His face from His people & watch where their road without Him takes them. Well that is just scary after reading the curses for disobedience & knowing how the story ends up with them eating each other (Dt 28:53)... Froward generation - 2 Sam 22:27 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury. 28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down. Prov 3:32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous. Froward: 8419 תַּהְפֻּכֹות [tahpukah /tah·poo·kaw/] n f. From 2015; TWOT 512f; GK 9337; 10 occurrences; AV translates as “froward” four times, “frowardness” three times, “froward things” twice, and “perverse things” once. 1 perversity, perverse thing. - So this is another way to mention the crooked & perverse generation line we just saw recently in verse 5 of this chapter. Children in whom is no faith - well if you were here recently i went over a stack of passages that outline how faith & us getting our hands on some should be one of the top priorities for the Christian life right up there next to developing a personal relationship with God & Jesus so that you know who they are & can hear their instructions for your daily life that will lead you into your best possible destiny. Just one of them was this one - Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. - because without faith it is impossible to please God these people who He is talking about in this verse have no hope - they should but they neglected the gift that was in them (1 Tim 4:14) because another verse i brought up recently goes Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. - but the one i didnt tie it to last time was this one - 2 Tim 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. - God gave some to everyone but not everybody has it - why? Because of that other verse neglecting the gift that is in you - That is what this parable is about - Mt 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. If God gives you some faith & you dont use it, it will be taken away from you & you will find yourself weeping & gnashing your teeth. K so the 21 verse is a prophecy about how the new covenant will give open access to gentiles to become members of the family of God. Paul was using this very passage as evidence of this in Rom 10:19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. 20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. - Tying in Isa 65:1 for bonus like how i love to give more than one scripture that says the same thing so you know i am not making it up. The 22 verse looks like a prophecy about the end of the world - a fire that takes out both hell & earth - 2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. The 23rd verse has an interesting line in it because of another verse that came to mind the instant i saw it - Not only is God giving the people who turned away from Him troubles but He is also shooting arrows at them. 127 Ps 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. - Because arrows are related to children there is a possibility that God is saying that His adopted children will be used to judge these children who have gone astray with the edge of the sword. Most times God would use heathen nations but there was this one line Isa 44:28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid. - Well Cyrus was a king of persia & so therefore most likely a gentile but he is called a shepherd of YHVH - well he wasnt used to judge Israel but to help Ezra rebuild the temple by signing all the paperwork & donating funds to enable it to be done. - However having the king of persia being called a shepherd of YHVH in their own bible might be part of them getting provoked by a foolish nation we just seen. The 24th & 25th verses is pointing us to some of the curses we already seen - their situation will be so bad because they forsook the one true God of the universe that they will be dropping like flies old, young, in town, in the country, at home, work or play doesnt matter they are just dying all over the place. Well after reading this section i am really concerned for the people who call themselves Israel today - as if i am not mistaken they are constantly having to fight a war in their streets as there are carbombs & suicide bombers & terrorists running wild over there i think about some land dispute & governmental authority that is disliked by the people living in a certain area but i dont watch the news enough to know much of any of the details (there are always 2 sides to any story so i am not taking the word of any of the reports i get as if they included all the facts) except if i am not mistaken people are dropping like flies over there & they appear to be innocent much of the time & when the Israelis do any counterstrike they are bickered at if any innocents get wounded or killed in the action & make much more of a big deal about it then the innocents that were killed in the marketplace by the carbomb that triggered the response. In any case it looks like my country might be one of the only ones who doesnt condemn them for handling their business & that may be the primary reason we have not fallen as a nation yet because of that verse - Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. K so until next time when we will look at more of this song that YHVH taught Moses, let us pray that we are not the ones spoken of in this section being abhorred by God. Let us also pray that we are not perverse, & that we are using the faith that God gives us & seeking to acquire more as we walk hand in hand with Him. Let us pray that we are not provoking God so as to cause Him to provoke us with foolish people. Let us pray that we are the ones who are not appointed unto wrath so that we wont be in pain when the world is burnt up with that fervent heat.
