During his sermon yesterday, Pastor Randy spoke about hearing the hymn He Rose and how, at first, he thought it said Heroes. Well, as I listened to Pastor Randy, I started wondering what kind of trait I would have if I were a superhero. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I already have a superhero trait. You might not believe it, but, deep down, I am still the shy kid I was so many years ago. But whenever I step into the pulpit to preach, lead prayers, or read the liturgy, my superhero strength appears, and my voice becomes stronger, more powerful, and more clear. My superhero power seems to become stronger whenever I step into the pulpit...well, at least I think so. Now, if I could have any super power, what would it be? Superman could fly, repel bullets, and bend steel. Batman had the Bat Cave, the Bat mobile, and all those cool gadgets. Me? I wish I had the super power to heal. I would go to Noah Johnsons room at Childrens Hospital. I would take Noah by the hand, and say to him, Noah, this is John. Ive been blessed to portray both God and Jesus in drama productions at church. But I truly have the power of healing, and in the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to awaken, get up, and walk. You are healed. Noah would wake up, get out of his hospital bed, and walk. Then, I would visit everyone at church. In Jesus name, I would heal cancer and disease, mend broken relationships, help struggling families achieve financial success, and then share my healing powers with them, so they, in turn, could go out and heal. From there, I would take my super power out into the world and ... Thats my problem. I dont have a super power. I am just an ordinary sinner. Yet somehow, God sees promise in a sinner like me. God knows that I can take the mistakes, hurt, and pain of my life to help someone else. God can use YOU to help others, too, if only youll let him. Allow God into your life, accept him as your Lord and Savior, and let him guide you down the path that he has set out for you. Youll be amazed at how not only your life is transformed, but how you can help transform the lives of others. You know something? Im not disappointed that I dont have the super power of healing. Thats okay by me...but I do know the one who does have that super power: Jesus! So, I join my hearts with yours, as we pray to the Lord for Noahs healing, for those suffering from disease or injury, broken relationships, or financial troubles. We pray for those who need our prayers, even though we dont know the specific reasons why they need our prayers. And we give thanks to Jesus Christ for he has the power to heal, to cleanse, and to restore. Superhero? Nope, Im just a regular old average everyday sinner. But Jesus Christ? He is the true superhero. Put your complete trust and faith in him, and watch the miracles that he can perform. Amen. ~John Lloyd~
