During the launch of the 1st ceremony of Indigenous African Laughter School in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 30.6.2011, His Excellency the Special Adviser of the President that time (Mr Girma) , Mr Asafa Kesto was invited as a honored guest. The Journalists who attended this press conference asked him the following questions: 1.Ethiopia is the poorest country, Do you think that Laughter is more necessary than spreading the food, the bread to the needy and the poorest . Mr Kesto answered Yes, Laughter changes the social attitude, the peoples attitude, the social being and hence it is an essential part of the human existence . Then then question was following by the Journalist. 2.If the Laughter School is going to charge money, 449Birr per any student, is Laughter a free thing? Can you confirm that the African Laughter School give services free of charge? Mr Kesto answered We are those who are setting the rules, the laws. The laws are applied for all Ethiopians. So World Laughter Master Wlm Belachew Girma, as an Ethiopian citizen has to charge his students and by doing that he can open more branches (of this laughter school) in different regions and zones in the country, hence it is his democratic right to do so. (P.S. Since the school started its professional courses, many poor students were sponsored and accepted free of charge to take laughter training). On that year during the 1st ceremony of Indigenous African Laughter School the Journalists expressed a big criticism on the Laughter School policy as they didnt understand the therapeutic essence of Laughter in Ethiopia (as economically poorest country), but three years later, after so much work by the school and its proofs towards the global society benefit they realized and apologized before Wlm Belachew Girma, telling him that you are doing the real job for this country, quoting Raymond Hitchcok A man is not poor if he can still laugh. Wlm Belachew accepted their regret and said We are forgetting our rich culture, lets go back to our indigenous culture. Lets recall how our grand-grand parents considered LAUGHTER? How they used it? Do you remember our old amharic proverb Kafit fitu fitu (There is no use in serving food without a smile, it is better to serve food with a smiling so it can be digested, smiling is better than food). On this year we are going to launch the first World Laughter Pledge meeting and convention in Addis ababa, the events start on the 30.10.2014 and we are expecting His Ex. the current president Dr Mulatu Teshome to bethe honoured guest of the 12th National Ethiopian Laughter Day and to award the certificates for the new Laughter Professionals certified by the African Laughter School and this is to show the important role of Laughter in changing the Ethiopian society, nation and the whole world. Let us finalize withe Abraham Lincolns quote With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die
