During this mini-term, I was given the opportunity to explore how one would work to stabilize a v-shaped erosion area. After clearing out organic matter from the area, we made a v-shaped wall with cedar logs along the V. This was later filled in with layers of rock and soil. When working through the project, the group began with a general idea of what was to happen, but along the way we had to work through issues. Listening to our mentors discuss possibilities of solving the issues, helped me learn the process of how to solve issues while trail building when they arrive. During this mini-term, I learned the process of solving environmental issues through trail building. I am so thankful for the chance to engage in such an amazing learning opportunity and I hope this mini-term continues in the future!- Zia Gray
