E string on my bass sounds a bit dead sounding compared to the same notes on the A string. More of a thud low end and more fundamental to the note but less harmonics, brightness volume and sustain. Its not a lot and recorded it doesnt sound to bad but its kinda grating on me. Wondering if its the tension on that string being a bit less than on the A string. Its a dr lo nickle rider set wth a 105 E string on a 33. Something scale length bass. Tuning that string up a half step or a full step removes the problem. Tried everything else I can think of like pickup height, checking the strings not twisted and making sure the set ups good. Considering a balanced set of strings or a thicker E? Any other suggestions?
