EMBASSY SUPPORTS LAUNCH OF FREE CARE-GIVING COURSE FOR FIRST BATCH OF FILIPINOS On 16 May 2014, the Assistenti Familiari Corso Gratuito (free care-giving course) intended for migrant workers in Rome was launched at Rome’s Municipio VIII. This project fully supported by the Roma Capitale, with sponsorship/funding from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Rome, the Overseas Worker’s Welfare Office in Manila, and the Dangal ng Guardians Philippines International Inc. (DGPII), among others, shall provide a free care-giving certification course to selected thirty (30) Filipinos in Italy. The first batch of Filipino “students” who were present during the launch all committed to devote time and effort to the course, for a total of 60 hours of theoretical and practical training. Consul Enrique Voltaire Pingol, Vice Consul Jarie Osias, Welfare Officer Loreta Vergara, and DGPII President Judito Estopacia were also present during the event. OFWs working in Italy are mostly college degree holders or even professionals in the Philippines. The Assisttenti Familiari Corso Gratuito Project greatly helps in the further integration of Filipino workers in the Italian labor system. The Embassy congratulates the first batch of Filipinos participating in the course. (Photos courtesy of WelOf Vergara, Mr. Ric Rosales and Ms. Lindsay Acci)
