ETCHES & JENKINS: GET RUNNING FOR CANCER CHARITY! SOUTH YORKSHIRE prospects Adam Etches and Scott Jenkins have agreed to take part in this years Sheffield Half Marathon. The punching pair have already raised thousands of pounds for teenage cancer patients at Weston Park Hospital and will representing the charity again on April 6. While the 13 mile run is for a good cause, the experience should also help their preparations for their fights at Ponds Forge next month. We do a lot of running as boxers so this shouldnt be a problem and will help us with our training, Adam, 23, said. Me and Scott are ambassadors for the hospital now and its always good to raise money and awareness. Weve got The Star, a local newspaper, backing us and I think this is one of the best things weve done. To be honest, I think our manager Richard Poxon should get some credit for the work weve done for Weston Park. He was a patient at the hospital himself and hes the reason we got involved. Scott, also 23, said: I never get excited about running, but I am excited about raising money for the Weston Park charity. Doing 13 miles isnt exactly top of the things I like doing, but its for a very good cause and Im looking forward to it. As well as the half marathon, Adam and Scott will be joining Richard Poxon and Ricky Hatton on a 138km cycle ride through the Italian Alps in July and will also be taking part in a sky dive later in the year.
