EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: Lagos ex-Deputy Gov, Ojikutu, denies FRAUD ALLEGATIONS Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Sinatu AderojuOjikutu, and her son, Samson Adebisi, have denied a report credited to Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police that they obtained the sum of N130 million by false representation. The SFU had on Wednesday declared Ojikutu and her son wanted for allegedly defaulting in repayment of N130 million she reportedly collected in the sale of a land that was said not to belong to her. In a letter to the police issued through their counsel, Adenrele Adegborioye, Ojikutu said the issue for which the police declared her wanted was a civil matter. She also stated that she had always made herself available to the SFU anytime her attention was required on the matter, and expressed surprise that the police planned to make a publication declaring her wanted. She also said she had explained what transpired between her and the man, Cajetan Okekearu, who wrote a petition against her to the police. Part of the letter to the police reads: “Our clients’ brief is that, further to a contract of sale executed between them and one Mr. Cajetan Okekearu (“the complainant”) in respect of Plot 24 Block 4, Lekki Residential Scheme, Phase 1, said Mr Cajetan Okekearu laid a complaint of obtaining by false pretences against them at your Police Station.” According to her, following the death of her husband in 2008, she became the administrator of her husband’s estate, including the piece of land in dispute. She further stated that in 2010 the Probate Registry of the Lagos State High Court granted a Letter of Administration (without a will) in respect of the estate of her late husband. She said she dealt with Okekearu based on a Letter of Administration issued by the Lagos State High Court in respect of the land known and described as Plot 24 Block 4 Lekki Residential Scheme Phase 1, measuring 1379.50 Square Meters, the same land in respect of which the governor of Lagos State granted a Certificate-of-Occupancy in favour of her late husband, and in respect of which the High Court of Lagos State granted the aforesaid Letter of Administration.
