EXODUS: Gods and Men: Wow, you have to be really careful when you go to see a Biblical movie today! At least in the days of Charlton Heston they attempted to restrain creative license it seemed. I would urge anyone to at least read the Biblical account of any story before they watch Hollywoods account at a theatre. Just a few contrasts I saw between Hollywood and the Bible in this movie: The movie paints Moses as a military general, a man of war. The Bible never speaks of any military exploits on Moses part. The Bible does teach that Moses kills an Egyptian who was abusing one of the Hebrews but the movie has Moses attack TWO Egyptian guards when they attempt to question him on the street one night. One of them dies. Moses also threatens Pharaoh with a sword at his throat. The movie NEVER mentions the Biblical reason why God wanted them released. Yes He was coming to rescue them from their oppression and slavery but in the Bible Moses tells Pharaoh that he must release them so that they can go and WORSHIP THEIR GOD. I guess Hollywood didnt want to shine a spotlight on worshipping God. In the movie there is a burning bush where Moses is addressed by God. However, God doesnt speak to him after having him remove his shoes because the ground is holy. No, Moses has been in a mudslide and is buried, on his back and up to his face in black mud. God? He appears as a boy about the age of 8 or 9 Id say. He doesnt actually call Moses out to use him or ever become angry with Moses hesitancy, rather God sort of reasons with him. There is no staff, no assurance that Hell be with Moses or will have Aaron speak for him. But then again there is no reason for Aaron to speak for Moses in the movie because, after Moses attempts to have the people freed through civil disobedience and covert military operations using his training as a military man (sigh...), God basically tells Moses to sit back and watch. Then God proceeds to bring the plagues on Egypt without using Moses to speak to Ramses at all. Oh yeah, and at the end of plagues Moses is really hacked off and tells God that he is finished with all this. Oh, and Moses, the man the Bible calls the most humble man to ever live, is seen differently by the movie producers. In the movie he argues with God, refuses to do things he is told to do by God, tells God that he wouldnt do things if he didnt agree with Him and so forth. Hollywoods Moses is pretty hardheaded, obstinate, and stubborn actually. What of Moses wife, Zipporah? Her faith wasnt the same as Moses but that was alright, their son could decide for himself whether or not he would follow the God of Moses or the gods of his mother. Moses also asks his wife if she had given up her faith to be with him. When she replies no Moses tells her good, you may need it even more now. So much for helping her know the true God I guess. There were certainly other inconsistencies. The movie was entertaining but please learn the truth about these stories before allowing Hollywood to teach you their lies. https://youtube/watch?v=N4iSzHXOUEE
