KWARA STATES STUDENTS STAGES AGITATION CONDEMNING POOR INFRASTRUCTURE ON CAMPUSES. The purpose of the students Association like National Association of Kwara States Students (NAKSS) is to represent students both within the institutions and externally, particularly it should be saddled with the responsibility related with the welfarism of the students. Contrarily the birth right of the association has been sold to the state government by some hungry students who doesnt have future and due to this the pendulum of the association is in the hand of the state government who swing it anyhow. However, as the power converge on me as the acting president of this noble association, I believe rebirth is possible. This promoted the acting president of National Association of Kwara state students in person of Comrade Adio Lateefat to yield to the cry of the noble students of Kwara. On 5th of December comrade Adio and some other progressive members of the association have to tour round the institutions in Kwara state sequel to previous information about problems the students are facing. The journey started at exactly 6am, straight down to Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin, the students were delighted and welcome us joyfully, they claimed not to have received such royal treatment (visit) as such before, to the extent of claiming never to know the out going NAKSS president I.e Comrade Ajadi Bolakale is from there institution. very PATHETIC!!! As earlier said the purpose of the visitation was to check on there welfarism and from investigations it was deducted that many of the institutions in Kwara state lack basic infrastructures such as Lack of water supply, No electricity, Over crowded classroom with poor ventilation, No transportation to school, Unequipped libraries A student from Kwara state college of education Ilorin lamented that instead of the government improving facilities on campus, the management in collaboration with the government increases tuition fee. Salawudeen from college of education talking to the media on Friday lamented that the situation of there classes in so worst and on inspecting we got to know that most of the roofs are dilapidated and another student confirmed it that during the raining seasons their academic activities has to be suspended. If I may ask was it like this during the school days of our able governor? Olaitan still in Kwara coed said no books in there library and that the library building is mere there for decorations. Interviewing Obaniyi in Kwara state polytechnic Ara Village, she lamented that the whole village of Ara has just one borehole in which the students and the villagers share, and that if u will have to bath to school, u need to get to the borehole as early as 4am. Isnt this incredible? In a village like Ara that nearly all the students resides Also, talking to Opeyemi from kwara state polytechnic she said, her view was that the present government has no impact on we students because if not so Ara ought to have developed more than that. Talking on electricity Alfa Rasheed claimed that there is bad electricity as the whole village might be in dark out for 2weeks. However,on inspecting the hostel it was discovered that the hostel of about 16 block has just a borehole to sustain. To Mention but a few u will have to believe that the government has done nothing to help the students than making noise of bursary which they have been owing us for like 3years which has not been concluded. Myself as a 300L student has never collected bursary for once and I believe is applicable to almost all of us. GR8 NAKKSITE The acting president comrade Adio Later fat responding to all these reaction when speaking to a correspondent from Radio Kwara and other Media Correspondents said : All the afformentioned basic amenities are essential to the students, Denial of these amenities can result in the breakdown of law and order as seen in every organized society.
