Effective March 31, 2014 all practising College members are required to hold professional liability protection (PLP). Council approved the by-law that sets out the minimum PLP members must hold at its September 2013 meeting. Members in the Non-Practising Class are excluded from this requirement. The majority of nurses in Ontario already meet the new PLP requirement through coverage provided by their employers or membership in nursing associations that offer PLP as a benefit. However, all members of the College are accountable for ensuring they have PLP coverage that meets the minimum requirements set out in the by-laws.
