Employment Opportunity! *********************************** Staff Position: Farm Supervisor The mission of Seminary Hill Farm on the campus of MTSO farm is to provide the campus dining hall, our catering service, surrounding local restaurants and our growing CSA with a healthy, locally grown organic product. Methodist Theological School in Ohio seeks to connect the student body and its ecology and faith programs with a hands-on experience which will contribute to future community leaders’ commitment to local, sustainable agriculture and good food. Title: Farm Supervisor Supervisor: Farm Manager Location: Delaware, Ohio Status: Full-time salaried exempt Job summary: The farm supervisor must be a demonstrated leader with the ability to complete time-sensitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy. The supervisor will oversee all of the daily tasks related to the success of a certified organic vegetable farm, including but not limited to: Farm operations • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment, demonstrating a commitment to safety • Responsible for seeding, watering, harvesting and maintenance of hoop house (2) and farm • Aid in the development of crop rotation and production models • Irrigation installation and maintenance • Harvest tracking and documentation • Maintain Organic Certification • Aid in the development of a composting program • Development of SOP’s • Manage CSA member communication and distribution Personnel management • Supervision of others and work schedule coordination • Assist with employee hiring, training and skills development Partnership and collaboration with school • Collaborate with the Seminary Hill chefs in order to produce seasonal crops that can be utilized in the dining hall and catering service • Maintain an aesthetics quality of the farm and relevant areas • Partner with the School to help ensure the effectiveness of operations, employee, and Farm relations Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned. Experience required: • 3-5 years organic vegetable and fruit production • Prior CSA management experience • Proven understanding of whole farm planning, crop rotation, cover cropping, composting and plant science • Strong organization and computer skills • Prior experience and knowledge of farm equipment operation Physical Requirements • Ability to work long hours under time sensitive demands • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. • Ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere • Ability to stand for 10-plus hours per day Hours: This is a full-time, exempt salaried, farm management position.
