England Deaf Golf are hosting the 2nd EDG Autumn Charity Event at Princes Golf Club on Sat 11th to Sun 12th October 2014. The money raised will go towards a number of initiatives: To help England Deaf Golf Team for the European Deaf Golf Championships in Norway 2015. To support the 4 Nations Event which is being held in England 2015 To enable England Deaf Golf to have funding for sign interpreters in future events. To reduce costs for future England Deaf Golf events. This event is an open invitation to all deaf, disabled + able bodied hearing golfers which gives all an insight to deaf and disabled golf as a whole. The EDG Autumn Charity Event is played over 36 holes - 18 holes per day allowing for more social emphasis as well as taking part in this event. All competitors - men, ladies and seniors (over 50) are to play all 36 holes and will compete for the following prizes in deaf, disabled and able bodied categories: 0-14 handicaps Gross 0-14 handicaps Nett 15-28 handicaps Nett (*Disabled Golfers up to 54 handicap) 15-28 handicaps Stableford (*Disabled Golfers up to 54 handicap) English Deaf Golf (EDG) is the National organisation for the Deaf, Deafened, Hard of Hearing and Hearing Impaired golfers, and this encompasses a wide range of communication methods from British Sign Language (BSL) to lip-reading and speech. The venue for the EDG Autumn Charity Event 2014 is Princes Golf Club near Sandwich in Kent,a 27 hole facility that was the host of the 1932 Open Championship which was won by Gene Sarazen. Recently it was used for the Local Final Qualifying for the 2011 Open Championship held at Royal St. Georges next door and as a second course used for the strokeplay at the 2013 Amateur Championship held at nearby Royal Cinque Ports in Deal. It was also the venue for the EDGA National Championships in 2010. The event will be played over the Shore and Dunes courses which have recently undergone changes and improvements overseen by Gary Johnson of European Golf Design The overnight accommodation will be at the Lodge, which opened in May 2012, is a unique golfing and function venue on the South East Coast. The Lodge, with two adjoining Lodge Houses, has 38 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities and stunning views across either the courses or the Bay of Sandwich.
