Enyeama, Ambrose out of Champions League Nigeria goalkeeper - TopicsExpress

Enyeama, Ambrose out of Champions League Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and his teammate Efe Ambrose have been eliminated from this season’s UEFA Champions League. Both players will miss the group stage after losing out at qualifying stage with their clubs. Enyeama turned out with French club, Lille OSC at the Estádio do Dragao on Tuesday night knowing only a big win against Portuguese club FC Porto would turn the fixture around. The French club had lost the first leg 1-0 at home last week. And expectedly, the 27-time European champions cruised to a routine 2-0 win as Lille limped out of the competition despite the pre-season build up and hopes. Enyeama and his teammates will now concentrate on the Europa League. If Lille’s elimination was expected, the same could not be said of Celtic. Efe Ambrose predictably started for Celtic in front of almost 56,000 screaming fans at Celtic Park but was powerless to stop his side from capitulating to a 1-0 defeat, SuperSport reports. After drawing the first leg 1-1 in Slovenia, Celtic bowed out on a 2-1 aggregate. Celtic were extremely fortunately fortunate to have reached the playoff stages in the first place. The Bhoys were outclassed 6-1 by Legia Warsaw but the Poles were disqualified after fielding an ineligible player in the second leg. Ambrose, like Enyeama will now set his sights on success with Celtic in the less lucrative Europa League. ift.tt/1mU7m1h ift.tt/1pjNuZ3 [[Boost your social presence with NAIRALIKES nairalikes ]] #nigeria x #nairalikes #vanguardng
