Keystone Communities Program Transforming Downtowns Governor Tom Corbett recently announced that the Department of Community and Economic Development awarded Hamburg Borough a $196,774 in Keystone Communities grants to fund public improvements that eliminate blighted property and support continued economic growth. Project initiatives include the preservation of the historical Strand Theatre and the transformation of a blighted parking lot. The Keystone Communities program was created in 2011 to assist commonwealth communities in achieving redevelopment. The program supports physical improvements to both designated and other communities that are undertaking revitalization to restore deteriorated downtowns, residential neighborhoods and industrial/manufacturing sites.
