Enyeama: I want to become the best goalkeeper in the world EXCLUSIVE: The Lille man is full of ambition after he was voted Goals Nigerian Player of the Year and has nothing but fond memories of the World Cup Jan 6, 2015 10:00:00 By Ambre Godillon Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is determined to keep on improving and aims to become the best shot-stopper in the world in the years to come. The Lille star beat the likes of Ahmed Musa, Obafemi Martins, Mfon Udoh and Ikechukwu Uche to the title of Goals Nigerian Player of the Year with an overwhelming 55 percent of votes cast. In a year which has seen Manuel Neuer reach the final three in the race for the Ballon dOr, the 32- year-old Enyeama is eager to build on his own impressive 2014 and challenge the Germany and Bayern Munich man as the worlds finest in their position. I am really happy to have won this award. I was already hoping to win it. I would like to thank all my team-mates at Lille and the Nigerian national team. I think its really hard for a goalkeeper to be recognised, Enyeama told Goal. I want to win every match. Every day, I give my best to be better than yesterday. My target is to become the best goalkeeper in the world. This is my dream, and Im working hard for this. Im not yet at my best level, I have many things to work out. In Nigeria, we have worked on basics and specific things. Our coach [Stephen] Keshi is very important. At Lille, Jean Pierre Mottet is very helpful too. They really helped to shape me, to shape my style, to make me who I am, a good goalkeeper. Enyeama led Nigeria to the round of 16 for the first time since 1998 at last summers World Cup and, while he finds it hard to choose his most memorable save, he has fond memories of his late stop to secure the points against Bosnia- Herzegovina. The most memorable save, its very difficult to say because there were so many matches, so many saves in my career, he added. Sometimes double saves, triple saves in a match... I cant really choose one. But if I had to choose one moment, I think it was the last-minute save against Bosnia.
