The Singapore Government had been known to be frugal in giving relief aid over the years. The mindset was cast during the early years when Singapore was a poor country. Times have changed, but the mindset remain the same. But, we should not just blame the Government. The people also have a similar mindset. During the Asian Financial Crisis, the Government wanted to help Indonesia with a large relief package. There was uproar among the people, and the assistance had to be severely cut back.
