Ericksons claim is whats known as a Fallacy of False - TopicsExpress

Ericksons claim is whats known as a Fallacy of False Equivalence. It embarrasses me, as a would-be writer, to see this sort of sloppy, lazy argument. Its nothing more than sophistry, in which Mr Erickson, somewhere in his mind, thinks his readers arent smart enough to suss out his illogica. But this is the sort of screed I expect from political agitators. Im now patiently waiting for the left-wing analogy, & Im even fairly certain that if I look around the web a bit, Ill find some leftist, somewhere, making equally idiotic claims & hoping you wont see through it. Its unfortunate, then, that sophists of both left & right are the ones dominating the airwaves & the discourse, perhaps under the old saying about squeaky wheels. But I prefer Minscs version, at least in these cases: Squeaky wheel gets the KICK. I mean that rhetorically, of course -- not that people should seek out Mr Erickson & physically beat him for his words, but instead rhetorically slap the silly out of him. Words, not violence. Argument, not assassination. Books, not bombs. #noussommecharlie
