Escaping The trap seductive crafty lurks dark ruthless persuasive All describes the serpant Proverbs 7:21 NIV With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. Proverbs 7:22-23 NIV All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. I stepped into many traps in my lifetime and probably many more before heaven. A very wise woman said the other day, Nothing is wasted. so I am going to talk about a few things that happened that is a little embarrassing but can be used for teaching so that others will not step into the same hole. When I was a kid, I had the thickest glasses ever. My eye sight was really bad. One Halloween these kids stuck a fire cracker into some dog poo and waved me over. They saw that my eyes were bad and they pointed to the poo. Look Look they said... So I bent down to take a closer look. BOOM it blew up in my face. Every kid laughed and I even laughed at myself for being stupid and sucked into the trap. So the lesson here is be carefull especially if you are curious and excited about something. Set healthy boundaries and always use God aa your guide. In high school I was steering at this girl while walking, didnt pay attention where I was going. There was this metal box that stuck out of the side of the building, boom again, my face went right into it. The lesson I guess is to beware of the obstacles in life and stay focused on where we are going. One of the deadliest traps is money. It is so easy to be entangled in wealth and put it on top of the list of wants. Do you ever notice there will never be enough money that can satisfy us? We get use to higher levels and then those high levels become ordinary so we want more again. When I was a kid I thought I would be happy if I had $1,000, it seemed like a lot of money. At the age of 18 it jumped to $2,000 per month. Then 30k per year, then 50k. It never ends. Ecclesiastes 5:10 NIV Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. The trap of money led to my addiction to gambling. The perception of being rich hit me hard so I got addicted. seductive crafty lurks dark ruthless persuasive All describes the serpant The serpant knows us more than we know ourselves. He studies our character, lurks like a hunter. Is very patient and crafty. He works through humans to get to us. With persuasive words and actions we are seduced into the mouth of the traps. Remember our battle isnt against the flesh: Ephesians 6:12 NIV For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Watch out for the seductive words as common as these: One last time I will start tommorow Just one drink, one toke, one bet I am not hurting anyone God will forgive me We sin anyways It will be fun Dont worry no one will know I am young so I have lots of time to quit Its cool and I want to fit in These are the persuasive words used to bring us to the mouth of the trap. Proverbs 7:24-27 NIV Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death. The lessons I learned taught me this: As it is written above, we pay attention to God and listen to Him, follow His ways and study it. There are scriptures all over the Bibke, the Word of God with instructions on how to overcome the serpent. Here are just a few: 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. James 4:7 NIV Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Philippians 2:10 NIV that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, memorize, write this on your heart: 1) OUR BATTLE IS NOT AGAINST THE FLESH, BUT AGAINST THE DARK SERPANT 2) TAKE CAPTIVE EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST 3) RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE 4) AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW Write the above on the tablet of your heart so you have these sayings with you everywhere you go. MEMORIZE IT! WRITE IT ON YOUR HEART! what good are notes if the notes arent with you? WRITE THE WORDS ON YOUR HEART. you wont be holding on to your notes and your Bibke all day long, But if it is on your heart, it goes with you everywhere. Then when the enemy attacks, utilize what is written on your heart. If a human agitates, irritates, frustrates you and tries to wreck your joy: from your heart you can speak into the situation: My battle is not against flesh I take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ I resist the Devil and he shalll flee. SO at the NAME OF JESUS every knee shall bow. AT THE NAME OF JESUS YOU WILL HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ME! AT THE NAME OF JESUS DEVIL BOW DOWN AND FLEE AT THE NAME OF JESUS! This is serious stuff. YOU have to, its not optional to not have the word written on your heart. SO MEMORIZE AT LEAST THE FOUR POINTS LISTED ABOVE. And then add to it. When you do this, you will see victory and freedom. When you are set-free, remember all the Glory goes to God and praise Him. TO THE GLORY OF GOD, Thank you Jesus for this message. Amen
