Even though it was incredibly hard to lose Frenchie last month (and Oscar, sadly, as well), we still feel very blessed to have Sam with us after his long hospitalization at the end of May. A month later, he is still fighting the liver failure, and enjoying the perks that come along with being a spoiled 12 yr old bully patient. With not eating being his biggest challenge (he went for almost a week when he first got sick, and we had to consider a peg tube at one time), he is now up to eating two double cheeseburgers and 40-60 ccs of various baby foods each day. While we are obviously not thrilled at the quality, since we always suggest healthy limited ingredient, grain free diets for these guys, we are thrilled at the quantity that he is back up to now to maintain his weight. He is still up and down off his couch, out onto the deck for sun, and out into the yard to do his business, so we are very grateful for this extra time no one thought that wed have with him :)
