Evening everyone, I hope everyone is training well or preparing for future competitions :) Tonight I have a Q and A with our clubs top Junior Javelin Thrower and world Junior representative Rhys Stein, who is currently in Canada gearing up for the WJ Championships 2014 to be held in Eugene USA. Questions:- 1. Name of Asics Wests Athlete? Rhys Stein 2. height? 182cm 3.weight? 86.5kg 4. What event/events do you do? Javelin Throw. 5. What got you in to Javelin? Nothing really got me into javelin, I always liked to do the throw events and in the u13s started throwing and really got into it, so I decided to take it abit more seriously. 6.whats your PB? 69.11 with the 800g Javelin. 7.who do you look up to any why? I look up to 2 people mainly, first person being Jan Zelezny who is the world record holder in the javelin and in most peoples eyes is the perfect javelin thrower. The second person I look up to is my brother Jake Stein because he is always pushing me to be my best at most of my training sessions and competitions, he also has been to all the major competitions that i hope to be a part of in the future. (World Juniors, Commonwealth Games). 8.whats your biggest achievements to date? The biggest achievement to date is throwing a World Junior Qualifier of 69.11m at Bankstown Athletics Track Also winning Junior National Championships in 2012 and 2013. 9.whats your favourite food/foods? Favourite foods would have to be chicken. 10.whats your favourite type of training? My most favourite type of training is gym. 11.what do you like to do in your down time? In my downtime I do coach twice a week and often check other results from around the world, and enjoy playing some Ps3. 12. Whats your future goals? Future goals include:- making the final and top 8 at World Juniors. In the years to come I hope to make many more Australian teams including Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast 2018 and the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. Also to qualify for World Championships. 13.what would you say to inspire future athletes? I would say to them to always listen and believe in what your coach says and to trust them, do the sport because you enjoy it and to always have fun.
