Suzanne Hunt, HuntGreen LLC About the Panelists: Guitars Not Guns Gregg Hammond guitarist, philanthropist, mentor, teacher. In 2008 he started the DC Chapter of Guitars Not Guns Children’s Music Charity, all volunteer staffed, providing guitars and lessons to foster care and at risk youth at no cost to them. He knows the power of music connects people to their souls Several DC musicians teamed up with him to record the GnG Guitar Anthem “Set Me Free”. Future of Music Coalition Michael Bracy is a partner in the government affairs firm Bracy Tucker Brown & Valanzano. He also co-founded the Future of Music Coalition and currently serves as a board member and Policy Director and co-owns Misra, an independent record label. Michael is known for his policy work in front of Congress and the FCC, including media consolidation, radio regulation (including Low Power FM), and ensuring public interest principles are at the heart of the legal structures that will help dictate new technological frameworks. Michael is a recognized public advocate both for the music community and for the need for increased citizen participation in the policy process. He has testified before the Congress and the FCC, and speaks often on these issues at conferences and in the media, including CNN, MSNBC, National Public Radio, Washington Post, New York Times, Billboard and elsewhere. Listen Local First Christopher Naoum is an attorney who specializes in copyright, media and telecom law and policy. Chris has previously worked as the Deputy Editor for Broadbandbreakfast and as Policy Counsel for the Future of Music Coalition. Chris has been a long time advocate of independent musicians focusing on licensing and copyright reform for the past two years. He has focused much of his work on artist development and proposing policy reforms that benefit local creative communities. Before moving to Washington, Chris received his BA from Emory University and his JD and MA in Television Radio and Film Policy from Syracuse University. H.E.L.P Gabriel “Asheru” Benn, M.Ed. is an educator, youth activist, and Peabody Award-winning Hip Hop artist based in Washington, DC. He has served as a teacher/administrator in DC Public Schools for the last 13 years, and is founder of Guerilla Arts Ink, LLC, a community service organization specializing in education through the arts, cultural programming, and professional development. In 2006, been co-founded Educational Lyrics, an educational publishing company specializing in the development of culturally responsive instructional materials. His cornerstone program is H.E.L.P., the Hip Hop Educational Literacy Program, a supplemental series of workbooks designed to HELP students of all reading levels through the innovative usage of Hip Hop lyrics for critical analysis, multicultural relevance, and effective literacy instruction. HuntGreen LLC Suzanne Hunt founded Hunt Green LLC, in 2007 in Washington DC, which provides strategic advising for decision-makers in business, government and not-for-profit arenas on a range of renewable energy, sustainable mobility, agriculture, and green design challenges. She is also a Senior Advisor to theCarbon War Room where she leads their work on aviation and renewable fuels and recently launched RenewableJetFuels.org. Suzanne designed an alternative aviation fuels competition for the XPRIZE Foundation in 2011 and is currently working on a new prize, which has not yet been announced publicly. Her former clients include private equity firms, UN bodies, government agencies, clean tech start-ups, fortune 500 companies, NGOs, and other innovators.
