My card for this week is the Knight of Swords. The two versions - TopicsExpress

My card for this week is the Knight of Swords. The two versions shown are the Rider-Waite and the Deviant Moon. While each of these decks render the Knight somewhat differently; the Rider shows the Knight quickly charging forward in the attack, while Deviant Moon show the Knight hanging back in defense. Both actions are attributable to the Knight. The quickest way to understand the Knight is, and this is true of all the Royals, is that they are a combination of their Suit and their Rank. To put it succinctly, The Suit of Swords deal with the activities and forces of the mind. The Rank of Knight is that of a courageous and skillful warrior, that is both clever and ambitious, and will defeat others ruthlessly. But the Knight is also an extremist that will express their qualities of the mind to the fullest. Their behavior and how they feel can be positive or negative depending on the circumstances and surrounding cards. What is unique about the Knight is that the key word(s) associated with the Knight is dual or two words reflecting the extremes. For example: the Knight can be Direct but not take into account the other persons feelings by being too Blunt. Or they can be Incisive with their opinions, but in so doing, cut others to sheds. There is a balance to the extremes and the Knight is there to remind one of balance. Regarding the difference in the two Knight cards. They demonstrate two different methods of attack. Rider shows the Knight blindly waving his sword in a mad dash frontal attack, while the Deviant Moon shows the Knight waiting, perhaps letting others take up the battle, but still waiting for the right moment.
