Ever since I was a teenager I have seemed to have a set of friends - TopicsExpress

Ever since I was a teenager I have seemed to have a set of friends that were older than me. Not a grade or two ahead but maybe a generation or two ahead. I guess I always had a respect for their experiences and called on their wisdom to help shape my own responses to life and work problems. Their opinions, perspective and knowledge have always been a great tool to keep in my toolbox; I think they gave me huge advantages in life that others my age might have ignored. As with most of my genuine friends we stay in (semi) regular contact. Even when the visits are separated by months or years when we do have the chance to talk we pick up right where we left off. Their friendship is a gift and sometimes I fail to make sure that they understand how I feel. When I was in my teens and 20’s, these friends were in their 40’s or 50’s I never took in to account what our friendship might look like 25 or 30 years down the road. They were in their prime then, they shared that with me. As I have navigated my way into my 40’s I have come to the sad realization that time catches up with everyone sooner or later, I have lost several of these friends just in the past few months. I received word this morning that I lost another last night. I hadnt made time to go and see him in a few months. I could blame my busy work/ home/parental schedule for not finding time to visit. The truth is that I just didnt make time visit. Moral of the story? Find the time. The other stuff can wait. youtube/watch?v=mRnNfFCzuVI
