***Every Friday when Crystal Cavern ends Im in awe of knowing so many amazingly talented people. Thanks to all of you, those who contribute, those who listen. Todays playlist*** 1. Dennis Holysbrook Go For A Ride intro... 2. Duncan Faure The One That Got Away (written by Jemi Blue) Hi, Deb: This song is about a fantasy relationship. I wrote it about nobody in particular. You believe me, right? I had a sort of ballad in mind when I wrote it, but Duncan dressed it up a bit and I really like the result. Thanks to Sam RB for the melody line. The track will be released as a single in a couple of weeks for all the Duncan Faure fans. Thanks very much for debuting The One That Got Away. -Jemi. Influence track: Whats Up by 4 Non Blondes duncanfauremusic/ https://soundcloud/jemi-blue 3. 4 Non Blondes Whats Up 4. Keith Fellows The Sour Less So Hi Debs, My influence for this number was Stings Englishman in New York Although the sound isnt too similar I tried to write something with a simple tune that had a strong melody line. There is a very unusual drum break in the middle of Stings song which I didnt try and copy as it didnt seem to fit in mine. Here it is and I hope you like it. Keith reverbnation/keithfellowsunpublished 5. Sting Englishman In New York 6. Ivory Tower Project Burning (new full mix which will be on the new ITP CD) This the first time it has ever been heard over the airwaves, quite honoured. Songs that influenced the musical composition of “Burning” “Notorious” by Duran Duran had influenced the production of “Burning” “Cold Dark and Yesterday” by Hall & Oates had influenced the musical composition of “Burning” The lyrics: Have you ever had the heat of physical attraction overtake you and your sense of reason? “Burning” is a sultry Pop/Rock song that plays on that lyrical theme. The lyrics were inspired by a hot summer day and the lovely ladies at Jones Beach: Long Island, NY. Mark’s take on Johnny’s lyrics: I also had a hunch that the lyrics to “Some Like It Hot” by The Power Station also influenced Johnny with the lyrics to “Burning.” We watched a lot of MTV together during that time. Crystal Cavern/Hamilton Radio Exclusive: This recording is the Full Length Album Mix that will be available on our next CD release: How Much More?. This track has been enhanced with: acoustic drum overdubs, a keyboard and guitar overdub, and a sax solo overdub performed by Tex Protho. It also features the bass playing of Ivan Elias - the original bass player for Patty Smyth and Scandal. Interesting recording trivia note: At the end of the first chorus: we flipped the 2 inch master tape over and cued a backwards count down and recorded guitar, piano and a cymbal crash. So when the master tape was flipped back over to its original direction; those instruments would play backwards (in reverse) to dramatically accent the stop. ivorytowerproject/ 7. Hall & Oates Cold Dark and Yesterday 8. Dario and The Clear Break The Silence Break the Silence was written while on a break between teaching students.I was just finger picking random chords and then came across you hear now.Went outside on a rainy cold night and the words came to me your not alone in this world im hanging in every word, you can break your silence went back on wrote the rest of the song. The song is about hope and compassion for me , but a local suicide prevention used the song in one of their events. The song Guinnevereby Crosby,Stills and Nash would my influence track, with haunting, longing guitar parts and harmoines.Dario https://itunes.apple/us/album/blue-realm/id904019345 9. Crosby, Stills & Nash Guinnevere 10.Thee Rhythm Kings Cant Stop Boppin (written by Dennis Holseybrook, vocals & keyboards) I wanted to write a classic rock tune like Old Time Rock & Roll. Give it a classic intro and choral hook. The lyrics are about a fantasy I had back then. reverbnation/dennisholseybrook cdbaby/Artist/DennisHolseybrook 11. Bob Seger Old Time Rock And Roll 12. The Corridors Free Spirit My influences are: afghan Whigs , simple minds, Springsteen, Lennon , haven, people , nights , seasons, subconscious, https://facebook/pages/The-Corridors/24471999337?sk=timeline youtube/user/THECORRIDORS 13. Simple Minds Dont You Forget About Me 14. Newds Mr Happy Sunshine The influence for that one is Jet McCartney - Mean Mr Mustard - and hey Bulldog - its always the highest compliment to humbly compared to Johnny thanks reverbnation/thenewds https://facebook/pages/The-Newds/138092116450?fref=ts 15. Beatles Mean Mr Mustard 16. Paul Butler Dont Look To Closely (written by Jemi Blue) Since I am not a singer, I usually have someone in mind to record the songs I write. Frequently, I write the lyrics with a pretty specific melody in mind and send both to that particular person. Believe me when I say I am not a singer, and I think the unfortunate folks who have been the recipients of these melody lines, which I always sing into my iPhone recorder, will confirm this. I knew when I wrote Dont Look Too Closely that the enormously talented Paul Butler was the perfect person for the song. I could only dream that he would say yes, and, amazingly, he did. The song came to me after I read a blog someone wrote wherein she mentioned that she was waiting at a traffic light when she saw a young man soliciting money beside the road. She opined that he appeared not to want to make eye contact with any of the drivers stopped at the light, and it got me to thinking about how that must certainly be so. I wanted to write only about him and how I believed he must feel in such a horrible circumstance, without getting into any of the broader implications. paulbutler-music https://soundcloud/jemi-blue 17. Dan Fogelberg Run For The Roses 18. Sylkay Honey Please Come Home Rickie Lee Jones has been told to me as Sylkays biggest influence. I chose the track. https://sylkay.bandcamp/ reverbnation/1sylkay 19. Rickie Lee Jones Chuck Es In Love 20. Miami Dan & The Hayes Street Band (Bamboo Trading Company) Jericho The Bamboo Trading Co. mix of Jericho is attached. A few words about the song. The track was produced by David Marks of the Beach Boys, who also plays most of the guitar parts on the song. The lead guitar solo, though, was played by Hayes St. Band guitarist Keith Williams. The post production sweetening was done by BTC member Gary Griffin. The backing vocals are done by Garys wife, Elizabeth Griffin and BTC member/Beach Boys bassist, Randell Kirsch. Id say the biggest influence on the writing of this song were songs like Fly Eagle Fly by the Marshall Tucker Band. Current Marshall Tucker saxophonist/flautist/keyboardist, Marcus James Henderson, plays the sax and flute on Jericho. The basic track was recorded at Paul Hornsbys Muscadine Recording Studio in Macon, GA and engineered by Paul Hornsby. Paul was the producer of the first 6 Marshall Tucker albums and played in the Hourglass band with Duane and Gregg Allman. The background guitar parts were recorded in David Marks home studio in New York State. The vocals and post-production sweetening were recorded at the Supreme Hall of Harmony in Panorama City, CA.A slightly different mix of this song with a different lead vocal will be the title track on the upcoming Miami Dan & the Hayes St. Band album currently scheduled for a July 23 release. miamidan https://facebook/TheBambooTradingCompany 21.
