Every Monday and Wednesday night, 7:30-9:15pm, I teach a class called, Public Speaking for the Non-Native English Speaker. It has grown into one of my favorite times of my day. Ive incorporated filming them reading commercial copy in addition to their vocal production and diction work. Talk about fun...and talk about break through!! They watched some of their footage tonight, applied how they LOOK as they form sounds and words and immediately made adjustments for improvement. I have to share this because Michelle will tell you, I was petrified to teach this class! Ive worked with Americans needing some diction work but of 18 students, 9 are from Cameroon, 4 are from Nigeria, 1 from Belgium, Haiti, El Salvador, Guatemala and Sierra Leone...with my country ass from Virginia. DONT MESS UP! Rang in my mind repeatedly. Now...theyre doing SO well...and loving it. Whew!
