Every morning, at 6am, throughout her first year of kindergarten, - TopicsExpress

Every morning, at 6am, throughout her first year of kindergarten, my youngest daughter would stumble out of bed and insist I carry her down the stairs to the breakfast table. It was very early for such a little girl to be shaken out of her sweet 5 year-old dreams. Especially in the heart of winter, when it was quite dark outside, the whole of her being completely rejected the idea of being awake. Rosie just seemed to DAILY need that lift from her Dad to get her up and moving before the dawn. Spring brought longer days, and the end of school. The start of summer has the kids sleeping in long past the sunrise… and Rosie no longer seems to need this morning ritual. Tell you the truth, I miss it. Her sleepy little chin resting on my shoulder, feeling her tiny lungs sigh with the heaviness of a long oncoming day at Nutter Fort Elementary School- those were a sweet few moments every single day I had to connect with my child. "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." –Mark 1:35 Maybe early on in your recovery, you felt a desperate need to have God carry you through each and every day. The thought of trying to navigate life without first reaching out for Jesus may have, at one time, been unthinkable. It could be, however, that as you’ve found healing from your hurt, habit or hang-up, it doesn’t seem as necessary to bother God (or bother WITH God). Since the winter of your struggles have passed, self-reliance may be growing in your mind as a virtue, even though it was self-reliance that got you in trouble in the first place. This week at Celebrate Recovery at Horizons Church we are going to emphasizing the importance of Principle 7: "Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will." Are you making that connection DAILY with your Heavenly Father? What is keeping you from continuing to rely upon Him to start and finish every single one of your days? Hope to see you this Friday night at 6:30pm where you can reconnect and recommit to DAILY walking with God.
