Every now and then I see a round of memes about how wonderful spanking is... and I just dont get it. Its not just a matter of reward vs punishment to me.. I do believe in balance - I do believe in consequences and discipline and taking responsibility for ones actions. I dont believe trying to control someone through fear of pain is the right method for a vast number of reasons. I dont judge others for utilizing it as long as they manage it without crossing into abuse. But the whole, The world is going to burn because people arent spanking their kids enough memes are crap. Yay promoting violence. Thats just what our world needs more of. Hit your dogs. Hit your kids. Hell.. I bet people would learn to behave right in society if there were more public beatings. Spankings by cops instead of tickets! Spankings by bosses for truculent workers! Yea.. thats inhumane... but its ok to hit our kids and electrocute our dogs. /grumble. Fck today. Im going back to bed. Wake me up when people start making sense.
