Evoleht is becoming more and more independent and fear less. This morning swim was an adventure. Evoleht went for the stairs while I was getting her float. I asked if she wanted to wear it and she said no, then proceed down the first step (luckily a small one). The second step is a larger step and she fell into the water! Luckily, she could sit on the step and her head was still out of the water. She was a little shaken up, but apparently she has a dose or two of obstinance from both of her parents. She still did not, as you can see, want to wear her float. So, for 30 minutes of swimming today she did not have a float. She would swim, kicking and all on her stomach if I was under her. She did several laps with me, you can see her in the shallow end (floating and kicking) and in the deep end we both went on our backs and kicked. Evoleht also told me to let go a few times and the first couple of times I listened. She went under the water. Somehow this was unexpected because when I helped her up she coughed and looked surprised. After that, I just said I dont think you really want me to let go. :) A special thanks to our lifeguard, who took the photos!
