*** Excuse me...can you let me out of here? *** *** CAUTION: FEATHERS ARE ABOUT TO BE RUFFLED!!! *** It is my heartfelt opinion that we will never experience Pentecost in a 60 minute service. Not because God cant move in that time frame, but simply because we tell Him He has too! I have heard some make the statement that Sundays are a Family Day, but I contest that this line of thinking cannot be further from the truth. Its our Sabbath and by definition, it is a day of worship and rest. Websters dictionary defines Sabbath as: 1 : the seventh day of the week observed from Friday evening to Saturday evening as a day of rest and worship by Jews and some Christians (this would be Saturday evening to Sunday evening for us here at Calvary) 2 : Sunday observed among Christians as a day of rest and worship. Its disheartening that the church as a whole has strayed so far from the roots of our Sabbath and are so used to the Sunday machine that we actually get uncomfortable when services surpass the 60minute mark. Weve unfortunately brainwashed ourselves into thinking that services are supposed to be a maximum of 60minutes or our people, and especially visitors, will leave. (Unfortunately, this is what every formula I have heard of recently predicts.) But all I find this does is put the Holy Spirit in a preverbal box. I seem to recall a novelty toy I used to have when I was a child. It was a small plastic box with a button on top. When you pressed the button, a voice from inside the box said...Excuse me...Can you let me out of here? Please understand, I am not saying that the Lord needs a specific amount of time to make His presence known, because I absolutely am not. What I am saying is that the Lord is much more apt to Show up and Show off if you will...when we decide to let him out of the box. - Pastor Vince
