Experienced great art this weekend. Bruce Hornsby in Ithaca. Never followed his music at all, and discovered hes a great pianist and composer, and generously shares/names his influences while he plays. Present works include a lot of minor chords and dissonance, which I love. Great lyrics and sound. (Hes also been working with Spike Lee for 20 years!). Totally enjoyable performer too--friendly, intimate, feel. Kind of exhilarating experience! Later, finished a novel---Jonathan Evisons The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving. This year Ive read 2 books I consider spectacular--the writing styles of each completely riveted and captivated me, as well as the stories. Such humor amidst suffering; so well done!!!! cant wait to read his other 2. (the other read was a memoir-by Lydia _____?___The Chronology of Water. Her writing gets right into the bones. AMAZING stuff.) Weekend ended with film Enough Said. Lucky me!!!!!, enough said.
