FACTS ABOUT THE ANOINTING. The following are some points i noted after reading some articles by SHYJU MATTHEW and after checking out some bible verses. I thank God for the life of this man and for his family and also for blessing my life with such articles..i pray that you are also blessed by them as i share with you! 1. TO BE ANOINTED BY GOD.... means to be supernaturally endowed with divine assistance to do an appointed task. Scripture:*[[Luk 4:18]] * “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to... 2. WHAT MATTERS MOST... Isnt pursuit of the anointing but rather PURSUIT OF THE PURPOSES OF GOD, after which the anointing then follows. Scripture: Acts 8:9-25 Simon pursued Peter for the power of the Holy Spirit and was condemned to perish with his money. The anointing shouldnt be pursued, rather Gods purpose for which it is given. Instead of praying for a yoke breaking anointing, pray with much tears and burden for the captives to be set free. ...Shyju Matthew. When the disciples tarried in the upper room praying, the anointing pursued them to empower them for the commandment of Jesus to go into the world to make disciples of men. Every task of a believer however small or least it may look, whether to sweep the floor of the church or to greet someone at the door is in some way or the other bringing heaven to earth. Therefore it is important to take the smallest of your tasks seriously so as to immerse one’s self at the given task in prayer for the empowering power of God. When we are faithful in the little, the Lord will make us ruler over many. ... SHYJU MATHEW 3. Now, what is the PURPOSE FOR ANOINTING? *[[Luk 4:18-19]]* v18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me #to proclaim good news to the poor. #He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives # and the regaining of sight to the blind, #to set free those who are oppressed, #v19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” *[[Act 1:8]] * But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, #and you will be my witnesses... 4. ACTIVATING THE ANOINTING... #Abide (live, remain) in God. *[[1John 2:27]]* As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, .... you will remain in him. #Be rooted in the Word *[[Col 2:6-7]] * v 6 Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, v 7 rooted and built up in him and firm in your faith just as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. #Continual OBEDIENCE 5. WHAT PRAYER DOES... Prayer Does Not Increase Your Anointing! Yet let me clarify, prayer does not increase your anointing. Nope it does not! (Against popular beliefs). Prayer is not an ignition to get the anointing going. Prayer is what increases the intimacy in your relationship with God. And no, neither does it make God love you anymore than how much He loved you on the cross, but prayer helps you to tune into that reality of love. Prayer cuts you from the noise of the world and tunes you to the voice of the Holy Spirit. In this process of being connected to the vine, the anointing/power of God flows in through us (the branches).....SHYJU MATHEW 6. INCREASED ANOINTING ISNT... doing more impressive things but rather what you have been set apart for. A simple example to explain this is, if God has anointed a person to reach villages for Jesus, that man praying for months is not going to change him into a mega church preacher. His anointing to fulfill his call and purpose does not change with prayer. Prayer only tunes him to fulfill His primary purpose. # Reading dozens of the chapters of the Bible is not what makes you more anointed, but it increases one’s faith to believe God to function in the anointing God has placed on one’s life....SHYJU MATHEW 7. ANOINTING INCREASES BY... Moving in Faith i.e doing what God has exactly commissioned you to do. Now remember, faith comes by hearing Gods word . (*[[Rom 10:17]] KJV* So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.) As you continue to fellowship and tune yourself to hear and pay heed to Gods directions concerning your purpose, the empowerment to fulfill your purpose grows. The anointing flows more and more. The key to increased anointing is not by pursuing it but by pursuing God. As you look to Him and learn to love Him more, you learn to do as He instructs you to. 8. CAN THE ANOINTING BE LOST? So many people are tempted to say that they have lost the anointing when they actually havent. The thing is, the reality of the anointing can be subdued by sin, fear, guilt or condemnation. So then even as it is present, they are not able to function in the anointing due to lack of faith! On a side note, I’d say that conviction of sin and the feeling of not using the gift is good if it allows you to repent and go back to God. But there are some who continue to function in the gift(in extreme faith) without any repentance, thereby abusing the giftings that God has placed in them. Never should you allow the enemy to hijack your gift or the anointing God has placed in you by bringing guilt and condemnation. And again, there is not going to be a point where you are perfect enough to handle the anointing. As I say a thousand times, the key is to go to God every morning, for every morning His mercies are new! I’ll borrow Bishop Jakes’s statement – “The greatest qualification to be anointed is to feel unqualified.”...SHYJU MATHEW. 9. PROTECTING THE ANOINTING.... # Remember who sends you. With great power comes great responsibilities. Dont say, I don’t care what people think. That is true in terms of God-less traditions but when it comes to morals and ethics that would cause people to question the God who sent you, then it is important that we live in a way that is above reproach. You are not yours, you belong to Jesus, lets honor that Name!....SHYJU MATHEW *[[Eph 4:1]]* I, therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live worthily of the calling with which you have been called. #Don’t Lean on Your Faith,Lean on Jesus. Leaning on your capacity to believe to make something happen is carnal. It’s interesting that the disciples would stress that the miracle of the lame happened because of the faith in the name of Jesus (Acts 3:16 , 1 John 3:23 ) This is where many fault as they push the anointing to be based on what THEY do, or say or act. No, it has to solely be on what the Father does in order to lift the name of Jesus. When it becomes all about what you do and how you do to achieve something, we are on dangerous grounds of what is called – PERFORMANCE. That’s when we strive to get things done without simply trusting His name and the One who sends us. Instead lean on the Word of God. Immerse yourself to the prayer and the reading of His Word together. Therein faith will soar for His glory and purposes. #Don’t Focus on the Results, Focus on Jesus.... Now this is hard for many of us. It is true that people will know you by the fruits. But knowing that it comes from me abiding in God and God abiding in me, should take our eyes off the fruit to simply abiding and seeking the pleasure of the Master. I have to remind myself a thousand times that it does not matter how the meeting went or what happened. It’s all about if I said what Jesus wanted me to say and in the way Jesus wanted me to say. It’s about if I did what Jesus wanted me to do and if I moved out of the way for Jesus to do what He wants to do. Let us then pursue Jesus and in turn He will position us where we are to be and there in our total surrender to Him , Jesus will be glorified through us. Whether we do something or not, as we immerse ourselves in Jesus, our shadows will carry the anointing, even our clothes will release His power and no power in hell can stop a child of Jesus that is solely after the heart of God.
