FILM (1 min) #ShareTheRoad Persuading London road-users to abandon their hyper-caffeinated aggression and be nice to each other...? Big ask. But Transport for London have done something interesting here: a 1 minute public information film targeting commuter rage that manages to be hip but not glib, serious but not preachy. An on-screen narrator - part performance poet, part guardian angel - walks through a city of hyperreal aggression (shot in cinematic black-and-white in a hand-held, action-led, fast-cut style). As conflict escalates around her, she cuts through rage’s white noise with a different tone, a different rhythm: a voice of calm, concern and reason that coaxes rather than scolds, delivering a bite-sized lesson in anger management. “Its all too easy to get wound up on the road. / But what if we let it go instead? / Breathe in. Breathe out. Its time to move on.” So refreshing to have just ONE, well-made, public-spirited antidote to the speed-worshipping, egocentric ethos of all those slick car ads... youtu.be/4ppR5_jJLGs
