WHO ELSE HAVE WE GOT APPEARING ON STAGE....? SIMPLY LIKE - SHARE AND TAG A FRIEND TO WIN THE LAST PAIR OF VIP TICKETS FOR THE WEEKND! The Stage – Saturday 9th August First on stage for our first ever Party at The Palace will be our 103.1 Central FM Battle of The Bands winners. The response to our competition was fantastic and we are sure that whoever the winner is, they will get the weekend off with a bang. Next up on Saturday is the one time front man of Runrig and now a successful singer songwriter in his own right; Donnie Munro. With his fine blend of Celtic influences and rock, Donnie has been entertaining audiences all over the world for the last 40 years. After that it’s singer-songwriter James Grant, who of course is the lead singer and songwriter behind the band Love And Money. An extremely talented acoustic ballad-spinner, his songs are known for their expressive melancholy and poetic lyricism. With his full band behind him and performing songs such as “Strange Kind Of Love” and “Jocelyn Square”, we are sure that he will be one of the weekends’ highlights. Next up it’s the pop-tastic The Bluebells. With a string of hits in the 80’s including “Young At Heart”, “I’m Falling” and “Cath” they are sure to get you in the mood for a jig and a sing-a-long. Our female audience members may be left asking what face-cream Ken McClusky uses as he still looks as young now as he did 25 years ago. From the jangly guitar pop sounds of The Bluebells, following them on stage is the sophisti-pop duo Hue And Cry. Made up of the brothers Pat and Greg Kane, they will be joined on stage by their full 8 piece band. So expect a big sound and great tunes from them as they deliver the hits such as “Labour of Love”, “Ordinary Angel”, “I Refuse” and of course “Looking For Linda”. To add a more contemporary side to the event, indie rock outfit Attic Light are our next guests on stage . They burst on to the scene in 2008 with the highly acclaimed debut album “ Friday Night Lights” and their follow up album was released earlier this year; “Super Deluxe”. With comparisons to The Beach Boys and R.E.M, we think the Attics will be the surprise package of Party at The Palace. To round up day one we are absolutely thrilled to have Deacon Blue join us. From the hits of “Raintown” through to their soon to be released “A New House”, this band has been delivering great music for over 25 years. We are delighted to add that the band will be joined on stage for a few numbers by Soul Nation – an 16 strong gospel choir. This promises to be a unique show from one of Scotland’s favourite bands. Altogether now, “There’s a man I meet….” In addition to our headline acts above, we will also have a few surprise guests joining us on the main stage throughout the day. So look out for acclaimed Edinburgh born singer song writer Carrie Mac, the powerful voice of X Factor favourite Jade Richards as well. Our hosts from Central FM will also be keeping you entertained throughout the day. The Stage – Sunday 10th August Day two kicks off with Blues n Trouble; straight and proper blues music, hailing from Livingston, but expanded to have a resounding reputation across all of Britain. The fantastic musicianship of the band will dust away the Sunday blues. Following on from this is the hotly tipped four piece Brown Bear & The Bandits. Hailing from Ayrshire, they’ve supported well known bands such as Babyshambles, The Libertines and The View (who play later on) and appeared at various festivals already this year including T In the Park. With their infectious hooks and great songs, these guys could be the one to watch. Next up it’s back to the 80s with the pop-folk-rock sounds of The Silencers who will be adding a touch of international flavour as they are flying in from their home in France especially for Party at The Palace. Considered a mixture of U2, Simple Minds and The Proclaimers, their colourful anthems will be a great addition to the concert and you’ll no doubt find yourself singing along with them. Our next guest is perhaps one of the most anticipated of the weekend. Hailed as one of Scotland’s leading singer songwriters, award-winning Horse McDonald remains fresh, vibrant and current. She has opened and toured with international artists including Tina Turner, BB King, Bryan Ferry & Burt Bacarach, achieving chart topping success across Europe. With her full band behind her, this is another one not to be missed. After Horse, it’s the turn of Frightened Rabbit to take to the stage. It’s hard to believe that the Frabbits have been on the go for 8 years and are on to their 4th album already – two of which saw them break into the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Fresh from headlining Tartan Heart Festival the day before, we are super excited to see them at Party at The Palace. Our penultimate act of the weekend is the biggest thing to come out of Dundee since The Beano. With numerous hit singles including “Superstar Tradesman”, “Same Jeans” and “Wasted Little DJs”, The View never fail to deliver a bit of rock and roll wherever they go. Their appearance at Party at The Palace promises to be a little bit different than you may be expecting. We were delighted when the band informed us that they would be bringing along the amazing Cairn String Quartet. Closing year one of Party at The Palace are the biggest band in Scottish music history. When we first started to look at the possibility of putting on a large scale event at Linlithgow Palace, we had an image in our heads of Simple Minds Official belting out “Waterfront” on the banks of the loch in front of thousands of people and that has now become the reality. Performing all their biggest hits and few surprises as well, it is an absolute pleasure to have Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and the band bring the curtain down on the first ever Party at The Palace. Once again, in addition to our headline acts above, we will also have a few surprise guests joining us on the main stage throughout the day. So look out for a couple of songs from Glasgow’s Aaron Fyffe Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall and X Factor runner up Nicky McDonald Our hosts from Central FM will also be keeping you entertained throughout the day.
