FLASHBACK 2014 DEAR FRIENDS, STUDENTS, COLLEAGUES AND OTHERS, NO DOUBT ,THIS PAGE WILL TAKE MORE THAN TEN MINUTES OF YOUR PRECIOUS TIME BUT IF YOU READ YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHERE MY COUNTRY STAND :- It is open secret to tell you all the pain and pleasure I got as a reader when I read about my country especially various reports of the world about the beloved land of ours. I did not read a lot but I scan some national daily newspapers, international reviews made by experts of the world and various reports of India and world. At the outset let me tell you that this is not a scholarly article but a reader’s viewpoint and it is purely personal. Dear friends, When I read Human Development Report 2014 prepared by UNDP , I got shocked that my country was kept in 135th Position I fumed the leaders of the world who are behind this report but an ounce of hope and aspiration got sprouted when I saw Transparency International ‘s “Corruption Perception Index ” which kept my country at 85th Position . I got elated but my happiness got shattered into pieces like bubbles in water when I compared the countries like Demark ,Norway and others with my country but a ray of hope rejuvenated when I compared the previous year’s report in which my country was kept rather dragged into 94th Position . Dear friends, When I read the country education report prepared by Pratham , namely ASER 2013 (published in 14.01.2014) I fell from the top of the mountain asking someone’s to help but Alas! I was the only one in the entire mountain to get pleasure from the report already the nation builders have tasted the bitterness of the report which is very difficult to share either in ink or in keyboard letters. Hence it is better not to tell. But let me tell you otherwise you all may ask why I did not share.“ By the middle of Std. II, there are still over 50% children who cannot read simple everyday words in the regional language. Report says. What can I say? I become speechless being a literate of the country. But when I read “Education for ALL Global Monitoring Report 2013-14” prepared by UNESCO I got really disheartened my country is also kept among the country of concerns .Though my country is land of great intellectuals , famous thinkers , incredible scientists , learned philosophers but we could not take care of tiny tots of the millions who are the real torchbearers of the next century .The statement of the report is a living testimony of our broken promises and false hypothesis to achieve the set target of universal education . “Learning disadvantages for poor girls can also be aggravated by geographic location. New analysis of Annual Status of Education Reports (ASERs) for rural India and Pakistan provides a stark illustration of how such disadvantages interact. In rural India, there are wide disparities between richer and poorer states, but even within richer states, the poorest girls perform at much lower levels. In the wealthier states of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, most rural children reached grade 5 in 2012. Among rich, rural children in these states, girls performed better than boys, with around two out of three girls able to perform a two-digit subtraction (Figure 13A). Yet despite Maharashtra’s relative wealth, poor, rural girls there performed only slightly better than their counterparts in the poorer state of Madhya Pradesh. Widespread poverty in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh reduces the chance that poor girls stay in school until grade 5. Once in school, though, poor girls have a lower chance of learning the basics: no more than one in five poor girls in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are able to do basic mathematics. DEAR FRIENDS, If I speak report related to economy of my country, it would be very difficult to stomach the ground realities that we are living .Even small countries wink with terry eyes about the development of our country, sometimes they predict about our economy but they should know if all Indian would go and stand on their country, the country would not be sufficient enough to accommodate teeming millions of Indians. It is more shocking to note that my country has been sent to 142nd Rank in” Ease of Doing Business” which was prepared by World Bank. It speaks” India has slipped further on the World Banks Ease of Doing Business index, at 142 among 189 countries as on June 1 from 134 last year, but the global lender has taken care to distance from this slide the Narendra Modi led NDA government which took charge barely a week earlier and soon set about improving the countrys business environment and perception among overseas investors” Dear Friends, It is irony to tell that India is an emerging economy because According to the Global Monitoring Report 2014/2015: Ending Poverty and Sharing Prosperity, released by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), “If it is shocking to have a poverty line as low as $1.25 per day, it is even more shocking that 1/7th of the worlds population lives below this line.” It is also heart wrenching to note that 30% of the poor of the world live in India. The country leaders, bureaucrats woke up from their dormant state, hope they will do miracle in forthcoming days. I have heard now they would not sleep to make the country a trend setter in next decade .Thanks to the forefront leaders of the country who have not only ignited the spark of work culture but also devoid of themselves from infighting and mudslinging. Dear Friends, In science and technology, we have left indelible marks in the history of mankind so the world will bend before us in a decade or two if it is taken care of properly. If so called vision 2020 is kept in everyone’s table, definitely the millions of problems, trillions of hurdles, zillions of obstacles will disappear like magnificent sand palaces at the bank of great seas. Thank u friends For your patience .
