************FREE TAX HELP!!!************ As most of you know - for the past 15 years now, I volunteer for an organization called V.I.T.A. (Volunteer Income Tax Assistant) - through the Metropolitan State University. We are offering free tax service again for those who are interested and those who qualify. To qualify you must be: *Working families making less than $51,000.00 in 2013 (we can use our discretion if slightly above and you have dependents) *People with disabilities *Senior citizens *Students What services do we offer? REMEMBER THIS IS FREE - - No $500.00 filing fee that H&R Block or Liberty Tax charges you! 100% ABSOLUTELY FREE......no hidden surprises! :) 1) Free ELECTRONIC filing of your MN State and Federal Income Tax. We also do out of state Income taxes, but that cannot be submitted electronically - needs to be submitted paper form. 2) Renters Rebate; not able to file electronically, but we will prepare for you, print and ready for you to mail (we will even include the envelope :) ) 3) We can also prepare your last year’s income tax, if you didnt file (will need to be submitted paper) What do you need to bring with you? 1) This year, because of the increased risk of Identity Theft - the IRS is now requiring us to VERIFY your ID - so you must bring a photo ID. 2) Social Security cards for yourself, your spouse and each of your children. If you do not have these; you must have the names and numbers EXACTLY as they appear on the card CORRECTLY or your return will be rejected. 3) Any 2013 tax forms or tax label postcards received in the mail 4) W-2 wage and earnings statements from each employer for the year 2013. 5) A copy of your 2012 tax return (NOT mandatory, but makes filing your 2013 return easier). 6) Any other information about your 2013 earnings including 1099-G forms stating unemployment insurance or interest (form 1099-INT) or dividend (form 1099-DIV) as applicable. 7) Information on child care expenses. 8) Information on other expenses that may reduce your taxes: mortgage interest, union dues, car registration fees, medical expenses, or school expenses. 9) Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) forms from your landlord if you are a renter. 10) Statement of property taxes if you are a homeowner. 11) If you want an electronic deposit in to your checking or savings account, you will need to bring a check OR know your routing number and checking/savings account number. *CAN NOT BE DEPOSITED INTO SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT!* When? and Where?
