For the attention of Irish citizens in Japan, The Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade of Ireland has recently launched a new online citizens registration facility for Irish citizens travelling or living overseas. https://dfa.ie/travel/citizens-registration/ The Embassy would like to request all Irish citizens in Japan, whether permanently resident or here on a short term basis, to register their details through this new online facility. This new system replaces the existing citizen registration system and so applies to all citizens in Japan, even if you have previously registered your details with the Embassy. Registration means that the Embassy and/or the Department’s Consular Division can contact you, and provide assistance, if there is an unforeseen crisis such as a natural disaster, or if you have a family emergency while you are overseas. Your personal details will be treated with the highest standard of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003. Registration is quick and easy.
