FROM THE NEWSROOM: An investigation into a residential fire in Danielson last Friday has been determined to be arson, according to Fire Marshall Randy Burchard. Burchard confirmed the arson, which occurred at 20 Mechanic Street in Danielson, is being investigated by the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit and the Fire Investigation Explosives Unit. The house was vacant at the time of the incident, and was under construction for a remodeling project; Burchard described the damage as “pretty minor,” confined to the basement area and one room on the first floor, and resulting in no displacements or injuries. As reported, the fire, originally reported around 5:06 pm Friday evening, was put under control Friday evening, by around 6:07 pm, according to QVEC Dispatchers. Dispatchers said Danielson Fire Department responded to the fire, which closed part of Mechanic Street for a period of time Friday. EDITORS NOTE: timeline correction.
