(AP) — A former White House lawyer charged with trying to kill his wife in Connecticut is appealing a judges rejection of his mental health defense, which could delay his trial. John Michael Farren has asked the state Appellate Court to overturn a May 1 decision by Stamford Superior Court Judge Richard Comerford. Its not clear when the states second-highest court will rule. Stamford States Attorney David Cohen says its uncertain whether jury selection will go ahead as planned next Tuesday because of the appeal. The trial is scheduled to begin June 17. The 61-year-old Farren worked for both Bush administrations. He is representing himself and has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. Farren is accused of severely beating his then-wife, Mary Margaret Farren, at their New Canaan home in 2010.
