FROM THE NEWSROOM: HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Two legislative committees will hold simultaneous public hearings on bills that would implement recommendations of a task force created after the Newtown school massacre to balance the privacy of crime victims with the publics right to know. The Judiciary and Government Administration and Elections committees both have hearings on identical bills scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. The Connecticut Daily Newspapers Association had asked lawmakers to move one of the hearings to a later date. The task force recommended that lawmakers allow only restricted access to certain crime scene photos, 911 audio tapes and other information from homicides. Lawmakers created the task force last year after relatives of the school shooting victims voiced concerns about crime scene photos being published. Twenty first-graders and six educators died in the December 2012 shooting.
