Father of Polo -- Lt. JOSEPH (JOE) SHERER: The man who took keen interest in Polo and popularised..... He brought a team of Manipuri Polo players known as Band Of Brothers along with their nifty Ponies to Calcutta in March 1864. The players were Tullain, Chowba, Anon, Omah, Tubal, Attomba and Monge Pa and played agains British officials. The Manipuris created grand sensation, however there is no official record of final score of the match. Then, he took his team to Imphal to play against the local teams, however, his team was unable to win a single match against the local teams of Manipur.
