Featured as a Breednet One to Watch when she broke her maiden at Wyong in July last year, promising three year-old filly Fine Mist looked ready to take a few more steps this preparation when scoring a dominant win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. Prepared by Bede Murray, the dashing grey daughter of Good Journey (USA) had to be reshod in the enclosure before going out to race which had her on her toes, but you would never have known there were a few pre-race jitters when she turned in a thoroughly professional performance. Good JourneyShe tracked the leaders in third place for Blake Shinn and swiftly put paid to them down the running, forging clear to win the 1000 metre dash by more than two lengths. Retained to race after passing in shy of her $45,000 reserve when offered by Oakford Thoroughbred Farm at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Fine Mist has now won three of five starts earning nearly $50,000 in prizemoney and has better wins in store. We didnt need her to cast a plate beforehand, and it probably took a bit out of her too, she was a bit upset, said her trainer Bede Murray. She got quite stirred up and I was a bit worried but all was well at the finish. I think shes got a heck of a lot of ability. I said to Blake (Shinn) shes got good gate speed and just have her where you want her. She is the second winner for smart Sydney metropolitan winner Mistifies, who was also trained by Bede Murray as was her dam Misty Jude. Grey in colour as are all the other flying Mistys in this family, Fine Mist looks to have her share of ability and looks set to add further lustre to a family that has produced many stakes-winner led by Group I winning sprinter Notoire. The current yearling from Mistifies is a colt by Wanted that will be offered asLot 384 by Yallambee Stud at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. Fine Mist looks another bright prospect for Cornerstone Studs Good Journey, who stands at a fee of $8,800 and covered 62 mares last year.
