Federal Judge Mark Mastroianni Takes Oath of Office (SPRINGFIELD, Mass.) (WGGB)–Federal Judge Mark Mastroianni took the oath of office on Friday afternoon. The public ceremony came after a brief, private swearing-in ceremony last month after the U.S. Senate confirmed Mastroianni’s nomination. Judge Mastroianni was sworn in by the Honorable Patti Saris, Chief Judge of the United States District Court. Among the speakers was Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Edward Markey who played key roles in supporting Mastroianni’s nomination through the senate. Mastroianni was confirmed as a federal judge in early June. He was ending his first term as a district attorney. Among those speaking was federal judge Michael Ponsor,”There is no doubt he is the man for the task, he knows our community, he knows the legal system, he knows the courtroom,” says Judge Ponsor. Judge Mastroianni was then introduced by one of his three daughters, Jennifer,”We get caught up in our own lives and forget to acknowledge that he’s accomplished more than most people could ever dream of, he is the kindest and most humble person we know, the amount of respect everyone has for him is unbelievable and everyone speaks so highly of him,” says Jennifer Mastroianni. Judge Mastroianni has served as both a defense attorney and a prosecutor in his legal career before being elected district attorney. While his resume is an impressive one, he says there is nothing like family,” Accomplishments are wonderful, titles are wonderful, and winning elections are wonderful, but they pale by comparison to what I have with you,” says Mastroianni. After his remarks Judge Mastroianni was presented his judicial robe by Barry Ryan, president of the Hampden County Bar Association.
