Feeling a bit melancholic to realize (once more) that there are no more radio stations in the Phils that play jazz (with jazz here I mean all its derivatives, not the kind that Crossover in Manila now plays). I miss the likes of CityLite 88.3 and even DWBM-AM, stations that did not limit their playlist to commercial tracks and practically played the whole kit and caboodle from their jazz archives. One of the things I always looked forward to when going to Manila back in college was listening to those radio stations. In those days, turning the radio on meant listening to tunes from artists as cool as Michael Franks and The Rippingtons to compositions as sophisticated as those from Pat Metheny and The YellowJackets. Cant have music that good anymore on the local airwaves.
