Feeling a bit sad after witnessing the deep racial tensions that still exist. Local neighbourhood watch confronted a young black man in a car after he alledgedly transgressed a traffic rule. I know the kid involved as they been living in our street for about 15 years and went to school with my daughter. He subsequently calls his dad and an argument ensues. I think therein lies the crux as the whole situation was fuelled by racial tension. My dad always warned me about intervening between fighting parties but I couldnt stand by and see the situation escalate out of hand. 7 burly vigilantes against a dad and his two sons seems like an unfair fight. Fists, taizers, bullwhips all were used. Fortunately I somehow by Grace managed to subdue the situation. What was said and the attitudes displayed by some involved and some bystanders I will not repeat as it revealed the ugly underbelly of our society. Remember these guys live in the same neighbourhood...
