Film 4: Love is Strange American This is a poignant but gentle piece that does not preach but reveals the constant daily inequalities faced by gay people, even in world-famous, gay-friendly NYC. This film looks at the lives of long-term partners Alfred Molina (George) and John Lithgow (Ben). They have been together for almost four decades; after the final legalization of their marriage, George loses his job at a Catholic school. This event sets their lives on a slow but steady unraveling. This simple film is well-crafted by director Ira Sachs and has Marisa Tomei in a supporting role. Whilst not revolutionary in its plot, it yet again reconfirms the inequalities yet to be resolved for gay people globally. https://youtube/watch?v=tkF-xEH60Ig
